A Summary of Info from Brownsville Spay/Neuter, Inc follows (accurate as of 07/07/10):

Thank you for you interest in helping us keep our Brownsville pet population under control and healthy!

It is a sad fact that even here in this small city of  Brownsville , every year thousands of adoptable cats and dogs are put down because they are unwanted.  On top of that, we see many cases of animal abuse.  The best way to combat these problems is through an effective and long-term neutering campaign.

Brownsville Spay/Neuter, in partnership with the City of Brownsville and various animal rescue groups, has as its main goal to be part of the solution by providing low-cost neutering surgeries and preventative care for all pets.

If you care about animals as much as we do, we are sure you will want to join us by making sure your pet is neutered and up-to-date with its vaccines, with a donation, or by simply getting informed of the benefits of neutering.  Please feel free to explore this website where we have made an effort to gather the information you will need to best care for your loyal companions.

 Clinic Surgery Information:

We accept most pets (dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits) as young as 6 weeks old; Also if they are pregnant or in heat, or even if they've recently had a litter.

-  To schedule a surgery, we need you to come the clinic where you can sign the release form and make payment. BSN accepts cash or checks (sorry, no credit or debit cards).

 -  We do our best to work around your work-day.  On your scheduled date, your pet needs to be brought between 7:30 and 8:00 AM and then will be ready to be picked-up between 4:00 and 5:30 PM on the same day.  We perform surgeries Monday through Thursday.

 -  The sutures we use don't need to be removed and there isn't any medicine that you will need to administer your pet post-surgery. Your pet will only need plenty of rest for the next 7 - 10 days in a clean environment.

-  We spare no effort in making our friends as comfortable as possible.  We use pain medication during prep before surgery, a general anesthesia for the actual surgery, and afterwards we inject them with a high quality 24hr pain prevention medicine.
